Spennymoor

A working town with a lot of grass to keep

Spennymoor grew up on iron and coal, and industry never left. The Royal Ordnance Factory estate and Green Lane Industrial Estate hold units whose frontages, verges and car park edges need cutting on a proper round, not when somebody remembers. Industrial ground is the work Reggie likes best, and it is where most of our own photographs come from.

The housing is just as mixed. Rows of terraced miners' cottages, the older workers' houses at Tudhoe Grange, council estates, and big private estates on the edge of town with shared open space of their own. Each of those needs a different kind of schedule, and yours is written for the ground you actually have.

We are at Unit 4 Plawsworth Road in Sacriston, about 8 miles north of Spennymoor. You deal with Reggie Tribuisis, the director, from the first call to the last cut.

Who we work for in Spennymoor

Units, estates, schools and houses

Spennymoor Town Council runs Jubilee Park, and Durham County Council is the council above it, but plenty of the grass in town belongs to somebody else.

business Industrial estates and commercial units Unit frontages, landscaped entrances and boundary hedges on the town's industrial estates. Cut to a set frequency, edged, and left tidy for the people turning up to work.
apartment Managing agents and private estates Shared lawns, verges and planting on the newer estates round the town. We agree the visits your budget covers and put them in writing, so residents can see what they are paying for.
school Schools and care homes Playing field edges, front lawns and hedges kept safe and presentable, with risk assessments and method statements on request before anyone sets foot on site.
home Homeowners A lawn that has got away from you, a hedge that needs taking back, or a full garden tidy. Commercial work is most of what we do, but houses in Spennymoor are welcome too.

FAQs

Spennymoor questions

Anything else, ask Reggie on the call.

Do you work on the industrial estates in Spennymoor?expand_more
Yes. Commercial and industrial grounds are the main part of the business, so unit frontages, verges and hedges on an industrial estate are exactly the kind of work we are set up for.
Do you cover Tudhoe as well as the town?expand_more
Yes. Tudhoe and the rest of the Spennymoor area are all in our patch, along with Durham, Bishop Auckland and Newton Aycliffe.
How often would you visit?expand_more
It changes through the year rather than staying fixed. Fortnightly from the first cut in spring, moving to every seven to ten days through peak growth in June and July, then easing off into autumn. The schedule is agreed and written down before the first visit.
When can hedges be cut?expand_more
Autumn and winter, once the bird nesting season has finished. Active nests are protected by law and the nesting season runs from roughly March to August, so hedge work is planned around it rather than squeezed in. If something has to be cut inside that window for a genuine safety reason, the hedge is checked for nests first.
What documents can you provide before we commit?expand_more
Insurance details, risk assessments, method statements and references, all on request. Company details are public: Reggie T Landscapes Limited, registered in England and Wales, number 15496162, registered office Unit 4 Plawsworth Road, Sacriston, Durham DH7 6JX.
